Welcome to the Volunteer Opportunities page for the
YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships 2018
In March 2018, Badminton England will be welcoming the world to Birmingham for the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships 2018, a Grade 2 (Level 2) event within the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour, and we’re searching for passionate volunteers to join our team! The YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships is the world’s oldest and most prestigious badminton tournament, now in its 108th year. We’ve presented the world’s best athletes within our sport since 1899, including many outstanding performances and rivalries. We are now one of just three Grade 2 events within the BWF World Tour (alongside China and Indonesia) – the highest grade possible for an Open tournament - and we take huge pride in showcasing our sport to the highest standards. The atmosphere will be spectacular, as thousands of people join us each day to witness the athleticism, speed and power of badminton, and the world’s best players compete for one of sport’s most coveted titles. Volunteers play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the YONEX All England Open; their friendly faces capture the passion and excitement of the event, and their focus and dedication make it a welcoming and compelling event for all involved. We strive for perfection. Our Values to help achieve this are: Excellence in all that we do Driving ambition to continually improve Engagement through teamwork Applying passion at all times Using our heritage as a guide If you think you could demonstrate these Values, we’d love to hear from you. General Information: Competition Dates: Wednesday 14th March to Sunday 18th March 2018 Venue: Arena Birmingham (formerly known as Barclaycard Arena), King Edwards Road, Birmingham, B1 2AA Volunteer Recruitment: We have a range of exciting opportunities on offer, so we’re confident you’ll find something to suit your interests and availability. Each volunteer role has a specific Schedule of Services, alongside general information to outline our expectations. When expressing your interest, tell us why you’re passionate about this role and any relevant experience you may have. We’d like to understand what motivates you, and knowing your areas of interest will play an important part in selecting a role which gives you the best experience possible. We also expect to be oversubscribed for some roles, so tell us what this would mean to you. After the closing date, 19th November 2017 for the majority of opportunities, we’ll begin shortlisting, and you may be contacted by one of our Team Leaders so that we can get to know you better. We require your permission to share your contact details with your Team Leader to further the recruitment process. Please make sure you have answered ‘yes’ to sharing your contact details with the organising committee on your Volunteer Profile page (found under ‘Account’). Some opportunities will remain open beyond the original deadline. The way to express an interest for these opportunities is to click "Join All Sessions" and once you have submitted your expression of interest, you will be able to (de)select the relevant sessions. We expect to notify everyone if they have been successful by mid-December 2017.
